Ok, I think I agree. So we should somehow advice to place mail.jar and activation.jar in common/lib (if you use SendMail).

I think the xml-parser is 'endorsed' by jdk1.4 as well, and the xml-parsers shipped by tomcat and jdk are working for us, so we don't need to ship xerces and xml-apis anymore. Right?
Is this also true for other servlet-engines than tomcat-5?
Er, how about xalan then?
Is everything working without xalan?
