The first thing you might want to do is add 
deprecation=off to build.properties, to avoid the 180 warnings.

I think we should have released with deprecation warnings off, but well, too late
for that now..

I apt-get installed ant 1.6 too, I also use blackdown, but (1.4.2), I
downloaded 1.7 src, and did ant.

It seemed to work.

Perhaps you can simply post the complete output of ant (perhaps after having
set deprecation to false).

Did you unset CLASSPATH? Perhaps in CLASSPATH an old mmbaes.jar is hanging
around or so, causing some compile errors with the new classes.
