I dont think I ever said we are going to drop W3C. Im pretty sure im 100% for it. These last few emails exchanges are troubling for many reasons.
The plan is to get W3C support in after the 1.0.0 release. I have stated this maybe 6 times. All I am doing is questioning your approach to dig up the old openddr client as the way we get W3C support in our DeviceMap client. How does that help us??? That client is full of defects, its been untouched in 2 years, no one can support it, and it has dependencies on unpublished Java artifacts. Eberhard got W3C support by simply following the specification published on the web. So lets be pragmatic here and examine our options for W3C support in our future release. Is this ok or do we need to do a panicked rush into a solution today? ________________________________ From: Werner Keil <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 9, 2014 12:00 PM Subject: Re: W3C See DeviceAtlas, I don't agree that dropping W3C compliance on the Java side is correct. If you want to create a "new WURFL", sure, go ahead let's drop it, but if we prefer to stay compatible with the de facto market leader here (plus one or two alternatives, semi-open like MaDDR or completely open like OpenDDR) we should maintain W3C support like they do.
