There is no different, desktopDevice is an alias for a genericDesktop. The 
reason for the alias is because desktopDevice is the legacy name. Changing the 
name in a point release would break too much logic for a point release, 
therefor the legacy name is kept as an alias. Removing the legacy name in favor 
of the better name (genericDesktop) is better suited for our next major release 
(2.0).
