I'm back at work (ie off vacation) now myself.

I don't think these were related to the vacation program at all
(looked like an LDAP problem?). Check the /var/log/qmail/current
file for email delivery related logs.

Those permissions are correct. The .vacation.msg file is written by
the web interface and only has to be readable by the user. It
contains the actual auto-reply message.

The .vacation.db file is written to by the vacation program and is
used to keep track of which addresses it has replied to. It will only
reply to the same adress once in any given week (the default time
period).

This is how the vacation program is supposed to work. If you sent
a message to the test user from another email account or if you
sent it a message after a week had elapsed you'd get a response.

Do you think that a week is too long for the vacation program to
wait until replying to additional messages from the same source?

I could make it a setting that can be change either globally or per-
user when setting the vacation message text.
