Using one location is, IMHO/experience, safe. Use, used and have used 
Win9x, WinMe, NT clients. 
Don't know about Win2000 clients, but i guess it will behave closely
to NT .
IE's History, Outlook Express mailboxes, My Documents etc can be safely 
used. The important difference is that NT uses Ntuser.dat and 
Win9x/ME uses User.dat as user-specific registry-db.
