I recently purchased a Dell computer 2300 dimension 1.8ghz with 256 ram and a 30 gig harddrive. I downloaded both version of sme 5.1 and 5.5 I installed 5.1 first because I have already installed that version on another machine and it installed perfectly. I installed 5.1v on the Dell computer after installing RH 7.2, I had to use a boot disk to get it installed. After installation, it asked the basic questions, and started to restart. During restart it showed the E-smith blue screen and gave me an option to e-smith & e-smith up
I have removed both the cd and floppy out of the machine I just left it alone and it continued to load. It seemed to load fine, until it came to hda, hda2 hda3 etc and it stops during loading and says lost interrupt. It kept saying lost interrupt and finally the screen just went black. It never got to the loading module with the OK at the end... I did see during the first part of the boot something about multiple irq on a port or something it goes by so fast I do not get to read it. I can reboot and when the e-smith blue screen pops back up I can use the arrow keys and select e-smith up, and it will load just fine. I have no errors at all. And it will boot into the console screen everytime when I do that. On the other machine I installed 5.1 it boots up just fine and only gives me the option for e-smith on the blue screen I installed the 5.5v and did the same thing. Is there something I can do to get it to load?
