Huh? gnome-disks sets options in /etc/fstab which is hardly possible as
normal user - and if you need to be root you can just as well edit udev
rules.
And it does not have any way to set defaults and I definitely do not
want to keep every USB stick I ever happened to plug in in /etc/fstab
for mount options.
I just tested to use it in gnome-disks from gnome-disk-utility-3.16.0,
and it asks me for root password even for shortname=lower. If I enter
it, the configuration for the particular USB stick is saved to
/etc/fstab:
dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SSanDisk_Cruzer_Glide_2004445172250A5D21C9-part1
/mnt/scsi-SSanDisk_Cruzer_Glide_2004445172250A5D21C9-part1 auto
nosuid,nodev,nofail,noauto,x-gvfs-show,shortname=lower 0 0
It is wrong because options should be picked by nautilus and passed to
udisks2 mount.
There is a chance to rewrite gnome-disks to use modified udisks and
nautilus will not need change.
(Or keep udisks daemon unchanged and move this code to client side
nautilus and Thunar or udisks library.)
