You're confusing issues of interface and architecture. There's no reason
to have anyone download a file and click on anything. That can all be
taken care of transparently by the client. In fact, the inform.php does
most of it already. It downloads a file from a web site. A
user-configurable website, even. The only difference is that it uses all
the nodes instead of the one that the user picks from the list. That is
easily fixable in the client.
However, anyone naive enough to download a list of nodes and pick one
isn't going to be making an informed decision. If they had a clue they
would have a node address to start with. They're going to just pick a
random node. So you might as well just pick one at random for them if they
don't want to enter one in manually.
The real issues at hand are 1) how do they get the list of nodes, and 2)
how is the list of nodes generated.
