Actually, it is different. What the double slash syntax does is it allows
for somewhat simple method of finding a file using just the key and no other
side-band data. Any other proposal either has the ability to be misread or
just has icky parts.
The // identifier plays icky with freesites with some software, yes. I'd
like to remind you that not all the data nor is all of the data that is ever
going to be on freenet will be a freesite. Hurting other forms of content
retreival systems becuase of stupid software is not just cause to change the
format.

I think the idea is for you to find something that is better than the double
slash syntax and atleast get some people to agree. I can setup webpages
which work with //, if the software doesn't handle it, use different
software.
