Oh god...please don't let this happen! We *need* a C implementation of fred! Even FEC in fred is slow (hence the native implementation which I still have noti figured out how to get working) and it still leaks memory regularly. I can't even fire up top on my box when fred is running because the silly threading creates so many processes that reading the process list starts consuming cpu time.
