Oh god...please don't let this happen! We *need* a C implementation of
fred! Even FEC in fred is slow (hence the native implementation which I
still have noti figured out how to get working) and it still leaks memory
regularly. I can't even fire up top on my box when fred is running because
the silly threading creates so many processes that reading the process
list starts consuming cpu time. Give me select() or give me death! ;)
