Greetings;

Ian suggested that I should introduce myself. I am a Debian
developer who has followed this project for a few years now. I
noticed that the Debian package was orphaned recently and I would
like to keep Freenet available to the Debian community. I am in
the process of adopting the package and working through the bugs
filed against it. This will not be my only package and I have
higher priority items that prevent me from turning this into a
crusade. I hope to enlist the support of the Freenet developers.

I do not have any Java experience but I have worked for 20 years
as a software engineer with various languages. I am not worried
about the learning curve but I want to avoid wasting my time. My
intention is to get suggestions and ideas from Freenet developers
that will keep the Debian package current. I may contribute code
as time and experience permits. I will be serious and thoughtful
about any questions I ask and I appreciate any guidance you can
provide to focus my efforts wisely. I read my email regularly so
you can be assured of careful consideration of anything you send.

I will now spend some time with the FAQ type materials and archives
to refresh my general concepts. I was using Kaffe and other tools
on various pet projects. I may need to dedicate a specific
environment for this commitment. I am sure there are numerous
ideas about what works best. I would enjoy hearing some personal
recommendations in this area.

Richard
