I just did a new install (downloaded from website on a new machine) and
within 12 hours my node was running at 100% load with over 500 open
connections.

This is a new install of freenet. I downloaded it, did a tar -zxvf on the
file, typed ./update.sh, then ./start-freenet.sh.

I ofcourse went through the initial questions but have not modified
anything beyond the normal stuff (size of datastore, etc..).

I usually go in and tweak the freenet.conf but I decided not to on this
node to see what would happen. The strange thing is that I can't even
pull up TFE (or much of anything for that matter) yet I'm at over 500
connections (300 something inbound, 100 something outbound).

Here are my machine stats:

Debian Linux
Sun JRE1.4.1
1.6 Ghz AMD Athalon
1 Gig RAM
2 Gig datastore
Node uptime 22 hours

This is a node that I plan to keep running, but I thought this information
might be helpful to some of the devls.
