OK as I understand it the question of read only nodes comes form some peoples desire to: 1. Have their material readily available on Freenet, and not fall off the network. 2. Have their server load lessened by the mirroring capabilities of Freenet. and 3. Choose separately whether or not they want to host other Freenet content on their server.
This can be addressed, whitout any losses in Speed, Security, or Anonymity (Including for the person hosting the content.) Here is how: http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg01235.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg01239.html That will enable any node to host it's own content and insure it is permanently available on the network. If they do not want to have other content in their store, they can simply set their configuration to never redirect the source of a request to it self, and so will appear as though they were a transient in all other aspects. I would very much like to see this implemented. However it is not going to happen until someone ether volunteers to do it, or is willing to help me, as I don't know Freenet code well enough to implement anything this invasive. Alternately if you can't code you could always pay Toad to do it, I would be willing to contribute a modest sum. _______________________________________________ Devl mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://dodo.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/devl
