In 6220 I'm getting no connections transmitting, and no successful inbound search requests. On a lighter note, my outbound bw is at full throttle (10k/s), and my local mean queries per hour is down to a reasonable 15,000.

Here's a sampling of exceptions in my log:

02:22:55 Unexpected exception java.lang.NullPointerException in SendData Sending Data @ 104b483bd9d26513: 104b483bd9d26513/acd610a9a6d8bef6: [EMAIL PROTECTED], in=Key: <snip> Buffer: freenet.fs.dir.NativeFSDirectory$ExternalNativeBuffer@:0x1 : <snip>:committed:1050081:ffffffffffffffff New: false ( 16384 of 1049900 read), moved=12288/1049900, partSize=16384,result=-1 (inWrite=true) java.lang.NullPointerException

Are you sure this does not include a stack trace?

It might very well have. I was just taking a random sample from it. I'll grab the latest unstable and then try to give you a more complete log. Also, I'll change my freenet.ini from

outLimitCutoff=0.65

back to:

%outLimitCutoff=0.90

I had changed it to stop the relentless queueing of outgoing data and reduce the number of transmitting connections I was getting in 6215. (That was done on Ed's suggestion, and seemed to work---i'm sure you'll come up with a more elegant fix.)

If so, we can't do much about it - but I got lots of them when I tried to
run the node on a JVM with -server rather than -client.

Not sure what you mean (maybe I don't need to know).

Unfortunate. If frequent, bad.

Just curious: which part is the unfortunate part?

Ouch.

Ouch because "cache broken"? or about that weird gmane stuff? What is that anyway?

P.S. Am I correct to "<snip>" away the keys from the log before sending? I'm just trying to not break anonymity.
