Hmm, that is tempting. But I'm can't be truly comfortable with that
defense: it doesn't pass the laugh test. A good plaintiff attorney
could probably convince a jury that the chances of that happening are
too remote to consider. The only way I can see this working would be to
intentionally code freenet such that some nodes do indeed route all
requests to one other node. Hopefully we can find a more elegant
solution than that.
I'm laughing :-). Check this out: you can say "I was framed!!!". Some jerk could haved connected
to my node and requested music from all over Hash Space, and then sicked the RIAA on me (or maybe
the RIAA just did it themselves). I might be able to argue in court that since the RIAA gets
money for it, they could have framed me.
Sure Fearless Leader could just have me killed to be on the safe side, but such a
defense might
stand up in a court.
