Which exact JVM? 1.4.1_04? That's what I have... Which debian? sid, I
assume? That's what I have too. With test9? I have that. And with and
without LD_ASSUME_KERNEL, it doesn't work. With or without -Xdebug etc.

Are you running -server VM? I don't because last time I tried it it
produced mysterious NullPointerExceptions without stacktraces.
