Since I'm probably one of the people you're complaining about, I'll say it again: I think you should proceed with this. I have objections to the current proposal. However, I also agree that we desperately need a new design. I think it's better to start the new design while we sort out the objections, than to wait to start until there are none (which will never happen). I'm not certain what I'd think if you had a new design that was user-friendly, highly functional, looked good, and addressed none of my objections, but I suspect I would be in favor of switching to it. Having objections to the details of your proposal is *not* the same as saying it's worse than the status quo.
