Encryption of both the data and the communication protocol is good for a number
of things beyond trying to achieve total anonymity however.

And anyways, it is the Y2K, I don't think it is defendable for anybody to
create a new Internet protocol that doesn't encrypt communication any more
(except for a couple of fields like games).
