As I have repeatedly stated, (3) is unnecessary, those blocks can just 
be left as (2) (you are still "trying" them after-all).

Christ Matthew - what has got into you today?!  You are being a complete 
arrogant condescending asshole - and what makes it so funny is that you 
keep losing your arguments!

My suggestion was to take advantage of Javascript if it is available,
but to get-by without it if it isn't.  If you can't tell me what is
wrong with this then you are obviously wrong and you know it, but you 
are childishly trying to disguise that fact with arrogance and 
condescension.  It won't work.
