With my basic knowledge of this stuff, I'm thinking: "less uptime means people need more peers". I got the impression that the peering of nodes is far from as trivial and automated as it could be.
Perhaps a solution could be integration of external WoT's into Freenet. I'm not familiar with how WoT works for social platforms like Facebook, but I imagine you could create some kind of plugin to transfer (trusted) friends from social platforms into Freenet nodes' darknet peer lists (yes, I am aware of the privacy and security concerns and the challenges involved - I'm just brainstorming a possible solution.). - Zero3
