DFC folks:

I am sending on to you a query from Cristi Baldino, biologist at the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. Her request is self-explanatory. If you are interested in this, or can offer suggestons concerning whom she might contact, please respond to her at [EMAIL PROTECTED]   Thanks very much for your interest and help.

"We need to develop a decent monitoring
plan for our pupfishes and dace.  Currently we survey the major springs
biennually (1/2 one year, the other half the next year).  We also have
pupfish in the outflows, the reservoirs (at least Peterson), and the
marshes that we don't survey.  Is there any way to get a better idea of
Refuge populations beyond the springs?  Do we survey enough to detect
significant changes in the populations?  In short, we need help in
designing a statistically valid sampling program.  Can you recommend
someone in the fish world who might be interested in helping us?  (For pay,
we are not asking for a freebie!)"
