Hello,
Please forgive me if my question is a little off topic,
as I'm using Microsoft DHCP server and not ISC dhcp-server,
but I don't really know where I should turn for help.
Recently I've discover error messages in Event Logs on
NT 4.0 workstations running DHCP clients.
Specifically after each reboot there is an
[ Error 1004, Source DHCP, Description: ]
[ DHCP IP address lease 192.168.1.102 for the card with network ]
[ address 006008a313a1 has been denied. ]
When I captured a DHCP packets at the moment rebooting one of
our workstations I realized that after sending DHCPREQUEST
client is receiving DHCPACK from server but it ignores it,
and in third packet is sending DHCPDISCOVER message.
I don't know if this is relevant, but I use manual allocation
of IP addresses by the means of reservations.
Has anybody have any ideas why NT DHCP client ignores DHCPACK
packet (second one)? And how to interpret real meaning of
forementioned error message from Event Log?
