I'm sorry again for being _a little off topic,
but my actual problem is related to clients behavior,
or to DHCP protocol in general. And I was just hoping,
that maybe someone here has faced similar problems before,
so we all could share his/her experience.
Please take a 15 seconds look at my original posting and you
will find out that whatever server implementation I'm using,
it is probably irrelevant to problem I've encountered.
To refresh it here - Sequence of events is as follows:
1. DHCPREQUEST
2. DHCPACK
3. DHCPDISCOVER
4. (...)
The question is: Why after receiving in (2.) positive DHCPACK
client rejects it (or rather ignore it) and broadcast DHCPDISCOVER
in third packet?
And you are absolutely right:
I will definitely switch from Microsoft to either
ISC "reference" implementation or Solaris 2.7 dhcpd.
(I guess based on ISC dhcp server? - correct me if I'm wrong)
But original question still remains open.
