As others will most likely point out, isc dhcpd can handle bootp also. It has 
been a long while since I looked at the options but things with bootp in them 
and the file type options should be good places to look. (It has been a long 
while since I looked at the options because the software is so reliable that I 
haven't had to deal with it at all! Thanks Ted!)

I once set up some NCD xterms using dhcp to supply the addresses (all two of 
them!) and the bootp part to get them their software. Worked slick. That stuff 
is all gone now or I could send you the config files as an example.

The toughest problems that I have run in to on the OSX system is where to find 
things and what are they using?! Their GUI account manager is a case in point. 
It sure doesn't seem to use the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files!
