Thanks for the followup post (sorry I inadvertently deleted it) on quirky Windows PC behaviour when setting TCP/IP properties in conjunction with DHCP. For the sake of completeness on this topic, I tried blanking out the host name in the DNS Configuration tab for TCP/IP properties on a Windows 95 PC; while Windows 95 insists on a Host name being entered, I verified that it appears not to matter anyway; only the Computer Name that is entered in the Identification tab is used, as another post on this list had suggested - I verified this by the entry in my /var/state/dhcp/dhcpd.leases file. So, to summarize, except for any DNS name entry (warned by another posting on this list), no other entry in the TCP/IP Properties dialog in Control Panel | Network of Windows 95 seems to be operative when used in conjunction with the ISC DHCP. - - -CL
