I have been using ISC DHCP 1.0 for years on FreeBSD 2.2.x platforms with
no problems using USE_SOCKETS, which I use because I only have one
interface anyway, and it's a little bit cleaner from an administrative
standpoint.

I'm building a new system with FreeBSD 3.2 and DHCP 2.0b1pl27 and can't
get it to work with USE_SOCKETS. It seems like it is exhibiting the
same behavior that is documented for some of the other OS's: Microsoft
clients don't see the DHCPOFFERs that the server sends. My configuration
does work fine using BPF.

Can anyone else confirm this or have a workaround? Or am I being foolish
and should just get over it and use BPF? I've tried some of the
workarounds suggested with the other operating systems with no luck.

Dave
