If you are using packages of glib, gtk+, etc, make sure that you have the
development portion of these packages installed.

For example, if you have a system similar to Red Hat Linux, make sure you
have both glib and glib-devel packages installed.  You should have glib,
gtk+, imlib and optionally gnome-libs installed on your system.  For any
of these, if you use packages, make sure you have the corresponding -devel
packages.
