Taran, I don't think the topic has been abandoned, and I truly believe
people is not only still interested but increasingly interested in
discussing the digital divide, nptech, ICT4D, etc.

The "problem" is that back in 1999 we "only" had discussion lists (and
newsgroups and a couple of websites) and now there's blogs, wikis, fora,
twitter and a zillion more tools.

Trying to focus the debate a little bit, it is my opinion that:
- we already get information from plenty of places and there is no need for
yet another channel that supplies information: so, no website
- we (more or less) already know who's who, what are they working on and
with whom or where: so, no social networking site
- what we might be lacking of is somewhere to put up questions at random,
where to air doubts from scratch: a list (and just a list) is what fits here

And if we add to these "strategic" aspects other issues such as economic and
long-term sustainability, a plain list is what, IMHO, applies.

I'd second Andy's proposal to recruit some volunteers and let the list run
(smoothly) for a while.

i.
