Science Literacy Project

The Science Literacy Project has been training mid-career public
radio journalists to tackle science, health, technology and
environmental issues for five years.  Applications are being accepted
for the next workshop at KQED-FM in San Francisco on March 5-11,
2006. Workshop sessions are led by scientists in fields ranging from
physics to genetics, science reporters and editors from a variety of
media, experts in law, ethics, statistics and research and
exceptionally creative radio producers. Successful applicants will
participate in constructive critiques of radio work, field trips to
research labs, and two follow-up teleconferences. Applicants must be
frequent contributors to national, regional or local news or public
affairs programs for public or community radio stations. SLP recruits
and selects twelve participants for each workshop through a
competitive process designed to maximize ethnic, racial and gender
diversity and to include those from rural and minority-controlled
stations and networks. Details and application form available online.
