So I think the more fruitful approach for me is find a minimal representation that can cover C, most of D2 and close follow ups, let's call them D++ or D--. That way you don't break most code and can do whole program analysis/optimization with proper @safe validation…
Seems to me that you can have many languages in the same build and do semantic analysis on the whole. Provided that the generated languages (after generics have been instantiated) are close in semantics, of course.
That's the best I can come up with… Not what you are asking for, but what you are asking for will never make me happy ;-)
