Whether you like it or not, Danny, 7040-7100 is SSB in most of the world.

In Asia, where I am right now, 7000-7100 is our complete 40m band, and
that probably will not change for at least 5 or 6 more years in most
countries here.

There is a big difference between the two:

With SSB, the reason for disfunction is due to USA's FCC authorized
"phone sub-band".

With Digital texting/data, the disfunctional "bandplan" is voluntarily
self-imposed by operators in USA. It can be easily changed by spinning
your VFO.
