Thanks jcglt I was mainly things like the audio that I was concerned about. Some of the software seems to need a very close relationship with the sound card and I was worried about having that extra layer of virtualisation in there. I don't think I run any modes where torn-around time is critical. I don't use any TOR modes for example.
Thanks Mike My current environment dual boots into Ubuntu but it's a bit of a pain having to reboot. I think I'll do a bit of experimentation and report back. Gareth - M5KVK
