Without changing too much I'd favour probing the ID string for "xbox". 
But I'll need to change the kernel driver before it can be 
implemented on the directfb side.

Interested, yes, but I'm not sure if it will happen any time soon. The 
biggest problem we're currently facing with DirectFB on XBox is that 
gtk-directfb applications are running *slower* with hardware 
acceleration than without. But I haven't investigated it very 
thoroughly yet.
