Hi guys,
Thanks to everyones help I now have a working framebuffer. My problem
was that fbcon needs to be loaded before the viafb module (unlike the
via driver, which works better with it loaded afterwards). I do get the
forementioned white screen just after switching, but I'm not too worried
about that at the moment.
I can't get any joy with the built in version, all I get is a kernel
type panic. Which is a shame cos I would like a graphical boot, but it
doesnt matter for now, as I can concentrate on the application.
My last question is I've used df_dok to benchmark both the
framebuffers using this device, and attached is the output. I will try
checking out the cvs version or directfb tonight and see if that changes
things. I wasnt aware that the framebuffer driver would make alot of
difference to the speed and whats accelerated. The only significant
changes are

I use viafb built in to the kernel with no problems (but with 2.6.11;
haven't tried anything later). I don't have any other framebuffer
drivers in the kernel.
