Does anyone know if there are any plans to submit the DirectFB VIA framebuffer driver for inclusion in the Linux kernel?
I was writing a version myself myself with that goal in mind, but since I started, a lot of effort has been put into the DirectFB version, which makes mine mostly redundant (it is way behind in terms of hardware support and features). If the DirectFB viafb developers are aiming to get their version into the official kernel tree then I will probably abandon mine as it would simply be a duplication of effort.
