Maybe you should ask dok to give you access to directfb's cvs repo and check in the patch files to libxfce4gui? This would allow further development and easy checkout of updated patches. >>The DFB backend for GDK was heavily reworked this year and is now >>part of main GTK tree; it's used in the graphical debian installer >>(and i think in some linux-embedded project too) and will be >>maintained trough time. >>Pheraps this justifies spending some time to having (a part of) xfce >>running on top of a DFB based system. > > > Probably, yes. (don't know how far he went on this). i think this was planned for DFB 1.0, which currently has some issues with GTKDFB. >>Mike Emmel, GDKDFB maintainer, is close to get a working GDK port of >>the gtkwebcore browser, which togheter with (a subset of) xfce could >>be the base for a small X-less desktop system. >> > > > Interesting. I haven't test it yet. i completly missed that, now i've found the BR, i'll try this too. > All that makes me think that it's now time to start looking at the > project for a directfb-based desktop. > I just hope that I will found some time to have a look and try to port > some part of xfce (or at least, update the port of the panel so that > it will be based on the latest sources). I think a panel, to launch applications, would be very useful in an embedded device. cheers Attilio ps Nicolas, are you subscribed to directfb-users? can i drop you from cc? _______________________________________________ directfb-users mailing list [email protected] http://mail.directfb.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/directfb-users
