thanks great. i'm using Ubuntu 10.4 LTS for this purpose - the interactive shell doesn't seem to be in posix mode, but its possible that the configure script uses /bin/sh which should yield a posix mode bash. i've can confirm that building and running a GUI helloworld with embedded gnustep works fine now (also using standalone instead of ./standalone) - many thanks! while i've got your attention i've got a few very quick questions ;) i believe for a standalone configuration its unwanted to create a visible directory in the users home folder especially when the config file therein is invisible anyway: -GNUSTEP_USER_DEFAULTS_DIR=GNUstep/Defaults +GNUSTEP_USER_DEFAULTS_DIR=.config/GNUstep/Defaults but despite these changes a GNUstep folder is still created in the $home folder, for these files: /home/notroot/GNUstep/Library/Services: total 16 drwxr-xr-x 2 notroot notroot 4096 2011-10-17 05:08 . drwxr-x--- 3 notroot notroot 4096 2011-10-17 05:08 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 notroot notroot 55 2011-10-17 05:08 .GNUstepAppList -rw-r--r-- 1 notroot notroot 378 2011-10-17 05:08 .GNUstepServices how can i turn that off? second thing, i want the deployed app to have changed defaults for GSTheme and NSMenuInterfaceStyle, but stuffing the appropriate config plist into HelloWorld.app/standalone/Defaults/.GNUstepDefaults doesn't seem to get picked up. where shall i put it? thanks, julian
