Hi Fred,

Maybe I am completely wrong, but GNUstep's approach to storing user preferences 
doesn't follow the freedesktop recommendations.

The freedesktop recommendation, suggest using ~/.config for user-specific 
configuration files (~/.config/GNUstep/Preferences), GNUstep, however, uses its 
own convention with the ~/GNUstep directory.
