The freedesktop recommendation, suggest using ~/.configfor user-specific configuration files (~/.config/GNUstep/Preferences), GNUstep, however, uses its own convention with the ~/GNUstep directory.
I have checked on my Linux system the configure file situation and it is a little mess :) very few apps store it in .config apparently. I want also to understand if this is just a "clean up" situation or if the end-user might notice issues or missing functionality.
