It was just the built in hdmi audio.  The device is still a bit new to me so I 
wasn't aware the sound worked that way until the sound test lol.  I also have a 
USB headset I can try.  I will look for this guide tonight after work.  

Oh one thing worth mentioning though, the agnostep manager GUI wrapper does not 
launch from the GUI it keeps saying something about "desktop folder was erased, 
trying to recreate it".  I also had not looked further to root cause that yet, 
but I am just running on top of the default RPI trixie OS which I installed 
fresh, then followed the instructions in INSTALL.md.
