HOWTO on https needed

Yes, i know that this was at list for long time but
can someone point me to HOWTO about https implementing
on site step-by-step. Additional question - can i use OpenSSL 0.9.5a
for my website or i have to use something else , RavenSSL perhaps or
something else or thats different things? I want to use OpenSSL just 
because i have it installed for OpenSSH. Can it do the job ? If it can, 
why someone uses commercial tools ?
