>From my understanding, it is not a lottery.... It was described
as a round - robin selection.
However, that raises a lot of other interesting ideas. Is the way
it is going to work is that the first domain on the opensrs queue
is selected, then the first on register "b" and the first on
registrar "c" and so on until we get back to opensrs again, then
they go through the second domain etc. until all the domains are
registered into the system, kicking out ones that have already been
processed?
If that is the correct scenario, then wouldn't someone who pre
registered a domain today at internic.ca who has been accepting
advance registrations for a number of weeks stand less of a chance
than registering that same domain today at a registrar who has JUST
been certified? That kind of system doesn't seem to make any
sense at all since the smaller, newer registrars would have better
odds of getting the good domains.
If anyone really understands how this is going to work, I'd love to
hear. Maybe they don't want us to know?

Subject: the .ca lottery
I have a question that I need to answer for a customer.
Lets say my customer pre-registers "domainname.ca". I also go in
and
pre-register "domainname.ca". CIRA will then have a lottery type
system
(not based on date pre-registered) to determine who can register
the name.
My customer wants to know if he can pre-register the same name 9
additional
times to increase his chances of getting the name.
