Better yet, put a plaintext/XML file on the server with fields representing 
current status and upcoming outages. Then people could add a snippet of code 
in the client to check status (and disable the client) / output the upcoming 
outage times. The file could be autogenerated and uploaded to several servers 
around the world for redundancy.
