The whois command line client that comes with FreeBSD (THE server OS),
automatically queries the appropriate whois-servers. It works for both
com/net/org (where it queries internic and automatically the registrar
returned by internic) and ccTLSs. I haven't seen any better one. It
looks (from the source files) like it didn't much change since 1993...
