OK, as I understand it, OpenSRS is going to select a group of people at
random. Some of them may be your customers. Some may be NSI customers.
Some may be nobody's customers (if they don't own domain names).

This is a run of the mill focus group, and OpenSRS is going to pick up the
tab and share the information with us. They're not going to contact your
customers and say "Hi, we got your name from Bob's Domain Shack where you
registered a domain last week". Those selected to participate will probably
hear "Hi, I'm with Squizzle and Stevens Marketing Research, and we've been
commissioned to do a study on domain name registrations. Would you be
willing to participate".

What OpenSRS asked was if there were questions you wanted to have included
in this broad-based marketing survey. What a fantastic opportunity! To me,
opt-out isn't even a consideration, since this is so far removed from
OpenSRS's or our customer lists.

Eric Longman

Subject: enduser survey OPT OUT

As long as RSP's have the option of "opting out" -- this this shouldn't be a
problem. RSP's who do NOT want their end-users contacted, should be allow to
request it.

Even if 80% of RSP's opt out -- it still gives everyone a large end-user
base to sample from and obtain surveys..
