Okay, maybe *I'm* being dense here, but what is everyone getting
worked up about?

Focus groups are done anonymously like ...in a mall. Nobody is going to
know *you* have any relationship to the registrant, even though
it really wouldn't matter because they are surveying GENERIC DOMAIN
REGISTRANTS who could be Register.com customers, NSI customers, my
customers, your customers ...whoever! A sample population of some
market segment.

They are going to ask questions, get answers, crunch the numbers, and
generate some interesting data and perspectives which will EMPOWER YOU
to create greater levels of customer satisfaction, and give you insights
in how to attract new customers such that you can experience incremental
sales growth!

Nobody is going to look behind the curtain and notice there's just
one guy pulling the levers in Oz, okay? (no offense, my Aussie compatriots)

Think of it like this: Tucows is going to outsource and pay for the
services of a marketing research firm. This firm is going to use
industry-standard practices to build information. The value of this
information is that ~while we think we know it all~, we're usually a
little off base on customer preferences and values.

This is a VERY valuable and expensive bit of data. We've complained endlessly
about wanting Tucows/OpenSRS to support us RSP's and give us ammunition to
fight our battles by leveraging the co-operative strength of ALL of us.

_BECAUSE_THEY_DID_SURVEYS_AND_ACTED_SWIFTLY_WITH_OUR_WISHES, they are doing just that.

...and they're JUST GOING TO GIVE IT TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They *can* do this even if it really gets your panties in a twist, and
they don't have to give you or tell you anything.

But they do. Of course they do. Because they're A REALLY GREAT COMPANY!!!

STOP COMPLAINING!!! PLEASE!!! You're going to convince them that no
good deed goes unpunished.

As I mentioned earlier, THIMK!!!

I know how e-mail goes. This is all said with good humor, and a bit of
urgency to carefully consider your/our words and actions. It affects decisions that
affect all of us.

Subject: Re: enduser survey OPT OUT

I would propose then that if an RSP "opts out" they do not get a to view the
data. Why should this RSP gain from something they are not helping and
apparently do not support?

(although from my understanding opting out is not an option)
