Sorry to come in somewhat late in the thread but I mistakenly did
not send this to the list....anyhow....I've also got clients
anxious over this.
However, it can wait the matter of days promised, since they have
waited this long, most people are fairly understanding that it may
be a little longer. However, one question I am being asked
repeatedly, and maybe this is something that OpenSRS can tell us
now rather than letting us wait and find out about is whether or
not they will need those "new private passwords" that CIRA has been
sending them in order to make changes from our site. Is it going
to be a matter of needing one set of usernames and passwords to
initiate the changes on our site through the domain management area
and then use the other password from CIRA to confirm the changes at
www.cira.ca ?? Golly, this really is confusing for a lot of
people!
Thanks if you can help clarify this. It would go a long way in
helping me 'sound' like I know what I'm talking about when talking
to our clients. Any heads up on how things will work is
appreciated.
Thanks for all the courteous and helpful assistance from the
OpenSRS team, both online and by phone (esp. Scott, Erol and Chuck
and Ken). You guys are really great :-)
The CIRA tech support however may as well not exist as far as I am
concerned....I've actually had them tell me they were not able to
find the answers I needed and that I should contact tucows support
and have THEM contact CIRA for me to get the answers (and that was
after having to put me on hold and consult with someone senior)!!
They have not been trained to do anything more than regurgitate
what is on their website (and in some cases aren't able to even do
that) I mainly want to mention this as I know that support@opensrs
has been advising calling them for assistance. Ok, Ok, maybe I
wanted to 'vent' just a bit too!
Thanks,
Heather

Is there any way to determine which registrants have jumped through
all
of the hoops and confirmed their registrations at CIRA, other than
querying the CIRA whois for each and every domain? I have a few
confused
customers who have either ignored the CIRA email of don't have any
idea
what it's for. My guess is that I have more than just the ones who
have
called/emailed.
On a semi-related note....what is the purpose of the CIRA account
#/permanent password? Is this going to be needed in the management
of
domains through OpenSRS?
