Would it be possible to let the RSP know *before* the domain is transferred,
just in case there are unpaid invoices etc. and also, we like to follow up
with a phone call as a courtesy to ask the registrant why they are moving
away, eg have they received poor service from us or is it a cost issue etc.

And also the RSP needs to know that the domain has been transferred away, so
that they can remove the zone file and reclaim any IPs that were assigned to
the domain etc etc.

I don't know about for anyone else, but for us, a transfer out actually
involves a bit of admin work at our end (to ensure for one thing, that the
ex-client doesn't get automatically billed for a service that we don't
realise we are no longer providing...)

The fact is our process is a little short on RSPs losing domains.
Currently when a domain is transfered away from OpenSRS, yes, the RSP is
not notified. We are working on rectifying that situation.

With that being said, we CAN interject during a manual process. The
'losing' RSP could be owed funds, have a soured relationship with the
registrant and WANTS the end user to leave, etc... Since we definitely
can do something to protect all parties involved with a business process,
we do so.

Transfers away from our system and the subsequent notification of the
'losing' RSP is an issue we're well aware of and are working for a
definitive solution for. More details will likely come from those more
authoritative in the absolute direction of this platform *cough - Scott -
cough* - but this is the general tone for now.
