Of course, Equifax are a second level CA, off the root CA of Thawte!
Their situation is ALSO tentative...... big as they are. In fact, this
customer (Equifax) is probably the ONLY reason they have not
scrapped Thawte altogether.
The appearance of competition is much better than *real
competition.
We are talking about simple numbers here - and concentration of
power in the hands of a few Elite American Companies.
The equifax deal got Verisign's attention alright. Buy your
competition and destroy them.
